Nicholas Hlobo

Nicholas Hlobo (b. 1975, Cape Town) exhibits widely, including the Venice Biennale (2011), Biennale of Sydney (2012), Guangzhou Triennial (2008), and solo shows at the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo (2011); Tate Modern (2008), London; and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston (2008). He was named the Standard Bank Young Artist for Visual Art 2009, and the Rolex Visual Arts Protégé for 2010–11, working with Anish Kapoor as his mentor. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from Technikon Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
