Alex Schweder and Ward Shelley
The architectural works of Alex Schweder (b. 1970, New York) and Ward Shelley (b. 1950, New York) are embedded in the notion that relationships between occupied spaces and occupying subjects fluctuate over time. For the past decade, the duo has explored variations of domestic spaces activated and dependent on the collaboration between them. In their most recent project, presented at OMI International Arts Center, they constructed a minimal house that sits upon a concrete pillar and spins and tilts with both the wind and the weight of its roving residents.
